Dr. Rauf Razzaq is a Research Scientist at the Leibniz Institute for Catalysis at the University of Rostock in Germany. Before joining LIKAT, he served as a tenure-track assistant professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Engineering and Technology in Lahore, Pakistan.

He earned his M.S. in Environmental and Energy Engineering from the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom and his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, China.

Dr. Razzaq’s research focuses on carbon dioxide activation and valorization for the production of value-added fuels and fine chemicals. His work emphasizes catalyst design, synthesis, and application, with extensive experience in developing efficient and stable catalytic materials for industrial processes such as carbon oxide utilization, water-gas shift reactions, carbonylation, and coal-biomass pyrolysis.

He is the recipient of a Higher Education Award from the Government of Pakistan for his doctoral studies and a Leibniz-DAAD fellowship for postdoctoral research in Germany. He is also a member of the Energy Institute UK and the Pakistan Engineering Council.
