Dr. Darin E. Jones is an Associate Professor and Graduate Coordinator in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. His research centers on medicinal chemistry and chemical biology, with a strong focus on cancer-related drug discovery.

One area of his research investigates Acute Myelogenous Leukemia, a disease in which abnormal myeloid cells grow uncontrollably and crowd out healthy blood cells. His lab has studied the potential of dehydroleucodine, a naturally occurring molecule, as a possible treatment for AML and related diseases. He has also led research on DNA repair processes and helped develop classes of compounds that selectively target cancer cells while minimizing effects on noncancerous cells.

Dr. Jones has received significant research support as a principal investigator and co-principal investigator and has collaborated with faculty at institutions including Harvard, Yale, Cornell, the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Montreal, and the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology. His scholarly work includes publications, patents, and other research contributions in chemistry and cancer-related studies.

He earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Missouri and his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Central Missouri State University.
