Dr. Ahmed Alzamly is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry in the School of Physical Sciences at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UA Little Rock). His research focuses on the design, synthesis, structural characterization, and functionalization of advanced inorganic and hybrid materials—with particular emphasis on metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), coordination polymers, hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (HOFs), and photoactive materials for energy, environmental, and biomedical applications.
Dr. Alzamly earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Ottawa in 2014, where his doctoral research investigated the synthesis and characterization of chromium-based organometallic complexes and transition-metal catalysts for ethylene oligomerization.
Following his doctoral studies, Dr. Alzamly joined United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), where he established an interdisciplinary research program spanning inorganic chemistry, catalysis, nanomaterials, and functional materials. During his time at UAEU, his focus expanded toward porous and hybrid materials with tunable structural, electronic, optical, and catalytic properties—advancing applications in photocatalysis, environmental remediation, optical sensing, and antimicrobial technology.
At UA Little Rock, Dr. Alzamly heads an active research group dedicated to exploring the relationships between molecular structure, crystal architecture, and functional behavior in advanced materials. Through his research and teaching, he aims to bridge fundamental inorganic chemistry with next-generation materials development while training students in modern synthesis and characterization techniques.
