Dr. Nafis Ul Haque holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Leeds, UK. He joined the Center for Molecular Design and Development at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in September 2025 as a Research Scientist.

Prior to this role, Dr. Haque served as Scientist I in the Alloy Design and Development Laboratories within the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Wisconsin–Madison from October 16, 2023, to August 31, 2025. During this appointment, he contributed to a U.S. Department of Energy ARPA-E Phase II–funded project under the Ultrahigh Temperature Impervious Materials Advancing Turbine Efficiency (ULTIMATE) program. His work focused on the additive manufacturing of ultrahigh-temperature molybdenum-based alloys with environmental protection systems for turbine blade applications.

Dr. Haque is an Associate Fellow of the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) for Teaching and Learning Support in Higher Education and a Chartered Engineer (CEng). He is a professional member of The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (USA) and Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (UK).

He was a finalist for the Study UK Alumni Awards 2022 and was nominated for the prestigious Henry Marion Howe Medal by ASM International in 2017. His research has been published in leading journals in Materials Science and Engineering. He has also been invited to present at international conferences and has reviewed numerous journal articles.

His research centers on the development of next-generation materials for extreme environments, with particular expertise in alloy design, solidification and casting, additive manufacturing, advanced characterization techniques, and high temperature performance for advanced turbine systems and sustainable energy applications.
